Brief portrait of the company
Wald- und Grundbesitz GmbH, with its headquarters in Steinheim in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, is part of the Kronospan organization, one of Europe's leading manufacturers of wood-based materials. In 2003, the company acquired extensive forestry properties currently covering 7,358.32 hectares from BBG in the federal state of Brandenburg, which had mainly been used as and formed by military training areas in recent decades.
In addition to the extensive and cost-intensive disposal of soil contaminated by the military, the silvicultural objective of the Wald- und Grundbesitz GmbH, namely the “development of near-natural, stable and efficient forests”, has characterized economic activities over the past few years.

The management is supported in the cultivation of the forest areas and the implementation of the FSC© principles by an FSC© Management Officer as well as by forest engineers and forest managers. Management system maintenance is carried out by FSC© MSP.
Forestry and agricultural engineers are responsible for the forestry management in the forest districts. They are supported by trained foresters in all operational tasks (young growth maintenance and clearing, fence construction, path maintenance, forest protection, planting, etc.).
The overall operation of the Wald und Grundbesitz GmbH with a total of 7,358.32 hectares of operational area (6,938.25 hectares of woodland) is made up of three hunting grounds and is divided as follows:
