Kronospan won 2nd place at the Woody Award 2025 for sustainable innovation
Kronospan is proud to announce that it has received an award for Black Line boards in the category “Innovation for greater corporate sustainability” at the Wood Innovation Award, presented by the German Timber Trade Association (GDTR). The Woody Award recognizes forward-thinking companies whose products and concepts advance sustainability, efficiency, and climate protection within the timber industry.
The jury honored Kronospan for its product Black Line, a next-generation wood-based board featuring a certified antibacterial surface, exceptional durability, and a sleek black core design. Engineered for both interior and exterior applications, Black Line offers high resistance to abrasion, water, steam, and corrosion - making it ideal for heavy-duty private and public spaces.
A key factor behind the award was Black Line’s outstanding sustainability profile. By replacing kraft paper with cellulose fiber, Kronospan saves nearly 90% of the water used in standard paper production. The product is manufactured with reduced energy consumption, lower resin use through direct fiber coating, and delivers a negative Global Warming Potential* (GWP), setting new standards for eco-friendly material development.
